Hello fellow bloggers. After a semi-pleasant long weekend in Connecticut at a renaissance festival, I am back in all my cranky sunburned finery. I was helping a friend work a festival, although I am recovering from all the bad cockney accents, and if I hear one more Inigo Montoya line someone is going to die. Well maybe just cut out their tongues with bolt cutters if I am feeling particularly merciful.
This morning a friend and I got breakfast at Dunkin' Donuts before leaving CT. A single donut was $.75 and a 1/2 dozen was $4.86. I kind of stared at the sing in wonderment until it was my turn to order, as we were going to get a 1/2 dozen. I asked the clerk if the price was correct, seeing as he was charging me $.36 more to order the 1/2 dozen. He said it was, and that he couldn't change the prices. So I said "Ok, I will take 4 donuts on one order and two on another". This he was ok with, he even gave me a box to put it in. I walked out chuckling, as apparently free thought is not part of the employee handbook.
On the way home, I thought this was a great way to encourage people to eat less. Volume overcharging. Instead of giving a discount for a 1/2 dozen donuts, charge people more than the single item cost. It's revolutionary and it isn't even low carb. Let's call it "The Greig-quit eating twinkees-you fat slob" diet.
More tomorrow. Special thanks to Dograt for the plug on his blog. See the link to the right.
